Jan 02, Kathmandu- The computer lab room is filled with computers, but students have not used them for several days. The dust on the computer monitors is an indication of this. Two young men are struggling to clean the dust off the computers and turn them back on.
But after two days of continuous work, the computers in the computer lab were not only cleaned, but the computers that were in a closed state were also operational and after a few days, the students started pressing the keyboards of the computers.
Ashish Chaudhary and Amit KC, IT students at Tulsipur Metro College, repaired the damaged computers at Bir Balabhadra Secondary School in Thawang, Rolpa. The college has launched such a campaign to establish a tradition of helping one school to fulfill the needs of another school.
Students studying IT at the college have repaired the broken computers and brought the closed lab into operation. Since the school's financial resources are limited, when the college managed and repaired the computers, it became easier to operate the lab regularly, said Kul Bahadur Oli, the school's principal. "Although it was generally broken, there was a problem due to the lack of manpower to repair it. After the college took responsibility and repaired it, the school did not have to bear much of a burden," said Principal Oli.
College Principal Basanta Acharya said that after receiving information that the computers were stuck due to lack of manpower to repair them, the repairs were carried out with the help of the students studying in the college. He also said that the students studying in the pre-diploma level of IT repaired the computers. “We will provide manpower as well as equipment as per the requirement,” said College Principal Acharya. He said that if one school provides small assistance, it will help another school in its teaching and learning.
The school's principal, Oli, said that most of the computers in the school were only slightly damaged and were operational after being repaired. College principal Acharya said that some desks and benches in the school were also broken, and students studying mechanical engineering will be mobilized to repair them.
