State Of Emergency Declared After A New Virus Spreads In China

Jan 03, Kathmandu- Five years after the Corona, a new virus infection has been claimed to have spread in China once again. The name of this new virus, which has symptoms similar to the Coronavirus, is said to be Human metapneumovirus. It is said to be an RNA virus.

The report states that patients infected with the virus have symptoms similar to those of the common cold and coronavirus. It is said that it has the most impact on children younger than 2 years.

According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), its symptoms include cough, fever, nasal congestion and wheezing in the throat. Apart from human metapneumovirus, cases of influenza A, mycoplasma pneumonia and coronavirus have also been reported. Due to which the number of patients is constantly increasing.

Meanwhile, a post on social media with a picture of a patient claims that China has declared a state of emergency in many places after the virus spread. In which, crowds are increasing in hospitals and crematoriums. However, China has not provided any such information. According to a report by The Star, the CDC has said that patients suffering from diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are at higher risk of infection.

The risk of transmitting the virus through coughing and sneezing is high. If the effects of the virus are severe, it can also cause bronchitis and pneumonia. According to Reuters, China is also testing a surveillance system to deal with it.

The human metapneumovirus virus was first identified in 2001. A Dutch researcher discovered the virus in samples from children suffering from respiratory diseases. However, the virus is said to have been around for the past six decades.

This virus is found in all types of weather conditions, but the risk of its spread is highest in winter.
