Jan 03, Kathmandu- The Koshi Province Ministry of Health has written to private hospitals to submit details, records and reports of poor, helpless and homeless patients who receive free treatment.
Sagar Prasai, the Ministry's Public Health Administrator, said that all private hospitals have been made for that. The Health Institution Operation Standards, 2077, First Amendment 2078, stipulates that 10 percent of the total beds should be set aside for poor, helpless, and homeless patients who come to the hospital for treatment and free treatment should be provided.
Similarly, there is a provision to maintain a systematic record of patients receiving free and partial services and to prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports and submit them to the concerned bodies. In addition, there is a provision to post the details of people receiving free and partial services in a visible manner.
In the event that the work as per the mentioned provision is not done, the provision regarding the non-renewal of the operating license and cancellation is mentioned in Chapter 11 of the Directive on the Establishment, Operation and Upgradation Standards of Health Institutions, 2070.
“It is requested that the details, records and reports on the free treatment of the poor, helpless and homeless patients who came for treatment in the hospital in the last fiscal year and the current fiscal year be prepared monthly, quarterly and annually and submitted to the concerned body and certified documents be submitted to this ministry within seven days as per the order,” the letter reads.
