Jan 04, Kathmandu- Today is the World Braille Day. The aim of this day, which began in 2019 at the call of the United Nations, is to raise awareness about the importance of Braille as a means of communication for blind and partially sighted people in fully realizing their human rights.
World Braille Day is a day to celebrate the importance of Braille in education, freedom of expression and thought, and social inclusion, as reflected in Article 2 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
According to the United Nations, more than one billion people worldwide suffer from vision problems.
Due to vision problems, they are more likely to be deprived of health care, education, employment, and opportunities to participate in the community, and they are also at risk of poverty, violence, neglect, and abuse.
