Eight People Killed In A Fire In China

Jan 04, Kathmandu- Eight people died and 15 were injured in a fire in a vegetable market in northern China on Saturday, according to local authorities.

The Qiaoxi District People's Government said after the fire in Zhangjiakou city, northwest of Beijing, that "the injured have been sent to hospital for treatment and are currently out of danger."

The fire broke out at 8:40 a.m. at the Liguang market and was extinguished after 10 a.m., the district government said.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

In October, a fire in the major city of Chengdu left 24 people hospitalized with breathing difficulties, state media reported.

In July, a fire broke out at a shopping centre in the southwestern city of Zigong, killing 16 people.
