Jan 05, Kathmandu- Air travel in the country has been affected due to adverse weather conditions. Due to bad weather conditions, domestic air flights have been affected due to low visibility.
Although Visual Flight Rules (VFR) flights are operating at Tribhuvan International Airport, most airports outside Kathmandu have not yet operated this morning. According to airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, flights have not been operated at any other airports outside Kathmandu except Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara and Surkhet.
Both domestic and international flights are being operated regularly at Kathmandu Airport. It is reported that some airports that have direct domestic flights from Kathmandu are not operating.
Buddha Air spokesperson Dipendra Kumar Karna said that although flights to Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Pokhara and Surkhet have been opened, flights to other airports have not been possible due to low visibility. He said that the airports are opening late due to thick fog in the Terai region.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology's Weather Forecasting Division has stated that most parts of the country are currently partly to generally cloudy due to the partial effect of a western low-pressure system.
According to meteorologist Binu Maharjan, it is currently generally cloudy in the eastern regions of Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati and Madhesha provinces, while it is partly cloudy in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces.
"Comparatively, tomorrow, Monday, will be more cloudy than today, and there is a possibility of rain," said meteorologist Maharjan.
"There is a possibility of light rain in the hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces." He said that there is a possibility of cloudy weather and rain as the western low-pressure system will have more influence on Monday and Tuesday.
