Pakistan To Receive $40 Billion From World Bank

Jan 05, Kathmandu- Pakistan is set to receive $40 billion from the multilateral lending institution, the World Bank. The World Bank has approved a loan worth $20 billion as part of a 10-year strategy to address Pakistan's critical challenges such as education, health and climate resilience.

This step is taken to focus on long-term development to protect the project from the impact of political instability that will occur between 2025 and 2035.

The bank will provide $14 billion in concessional loans from the International Development Association (IDA) and another $6 billion through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). However, these loans will be contingent on Pakistan's fiscal performance and credit index, it said.

The bank is also channeling another $20 billion in private investment into Pakistan through two other investment agencies, bringing Pakistan's total investment from the World Bank to $40 billion.
