Jan 05, Kathmandu- A case has been registered at the Kathmandu District Court against 39 people, including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, on charges of cooperative fraud. The case was filed at the District Court on Sunday in connection with the embezzlement of the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative in Kalimati, Kathmandu.
The charge sheet was filed by the Government Attorney's Office based on the investigation report of the District Police Range, Kathmandu. The Government Attorney's Office has filed a case against 39 people. The police had recommended 44 people to be made defendants. The case was not filed because the whereabouts of five people were unknown.
Ramhari Sharma Kafle, Associate Attorney at the District Government Attorney's Office, informed that a case has been filed for a sum of Rs 2.41 billion. A case of cooperative fraud and organized crime has also been filed against former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.
