Jan 06, Kathmandu- Information has been made public about how much gold Indian women own. According to new information released by the World Gold Council, Indian women own a total of 24,000 tons of gold. This is 11 percent of the total gold in the world.
This is more than the combined gold reserves of the five countries with the largest gold reserves in the world. According to the council, the United States currently holds the largest gold reserves at 8,000 tons. Germany is second with 3,300 tons, Italy is third with 2,450 tons, France is fourth with 2,400 tons, and Russia has 1,900 tons of gold reserves.
Under Indian law, a married woman does not have to pay any tax on holding up to 500 grams of gold. Similarly, an unmarried woman does not have to pay tax on holding up to 250 grams of gold. Men, however, have to pay tax on holding more than 100 grams of gold.
