'Kanguwa' In The Race For The Best Picture At The Oscars From India

Jan 07, Kathmandu- 323 films have been declared eligible for competition at this year's Oscars. The Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences has released the list of all the films in the main category competition.

In which 207 films have been declared eligible for competition in the Best Picture category. This time, Suriya and Bobby Deol starrer action film 'Kanguwa' from India is also included. Aamir Khan's 'Lapta Ladies' was recommended by the selection committee of the concerned country, while 'Kanguwa' was sent through an American distributor.

According to the Oscar rules, a film is eligible for the main category of the Oscars if it is commercially released in a theater in one of the American cities of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Texas, Atlanta, and Georgia. 'Kanguwa' took advantage of this to participate in the Oscars. Earlier, the Indian film 'RRR' was also selected in the same way.

On the other hand, the runtime of a feature film must be more than 40 minutes. Voting for the Oscar nominations will begin on Wednesday. Voting will continue until January 12. The nominations will be announced on January 17, and the awards ceremony will be held on March 2.
