Jan 07, Kathmandu- The building of Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School in Baglung, constructed with financial assistance from the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’, was jointly handed over to the School Management Committee by the District Coordination Committee, Baglung Chief Shri Amar Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of Badigad Rural Municipality Gandaki Thapa Adhikari and Counselor of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu Avinash Kumar Singh. Political representatives, government officials and social workers were also present at the program.
The grant assistance from the Government of India under the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was utilized for the construction of the school building along with other supporting infrastructure. The project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project and implemented through the District Coordination Committee, Baglung.
The Chief of the District Coordination Committee, Baglung, the Chairman of Badigad Rural Municipality, political representatives and the Chairman of the School Management Committee appreciated the continuous development assistance provided by the Government of India for the upliftment of the Nepali people. The newly constructed structure will be useful for imparting education to the students of Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School in Baglung. It will also contribute to the overall development of the education sector in the region by creating a good environment for learning.
Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School was established as a primary school in 1958 and upgraded to a lower secondary school in 1968. Later, this school was upgraded to secondary level in 1988. The school has been teaching from grades 1 to 12. The school has about 700 students studying in the school, of which 54% are girls.
As close neighbors, India and Nepal have extensive and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of the High Impact Community Development Project reflects the Government of India's readiness to join hands with the Government of Nepal in its efforts to expand infrastructure in priority areas for the upliftment of the Nepali people.
