Two People Killed In Pickup Accident In Pakhribas

Jan 10, Kathmandu- Two persons have died in a pickup accident in Pakhribas of Dhankuta.

The accident occurred at around 9 pm on Thursday night at Joutar on the Pakhribas-Hile road section in Pakhribas Municipality-3 of the district when a pickup (1 Ja 2639) carrying three pigs fell about 150 meters off the road while heading from Pakhribas to Hile.

The deceased have been identified as the driver, Shukra Bahadur Tamang, 39, of Pakhribas 9, Uttarpani, and the co-driver, Pramod Mallik, 24, of Lahan 5, Siraha.

Co-driver Mallik died on the spot and the driver Tamang was declared dead by the doctors while being taken to the district hospital, informed DSP Om Prakash Khanal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Dhankuta.

The pickup truck that was involved in the accident is still at the spot and the three pigs are alive. The bodies have been kept at the District Hospital, Dhankuta for post-mortem.
