Jan 11, Kathmandu- Sri Lanka earned about $31.7 million from tourism in 2024, according to the latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
This is a 53.2 percent increase over 2023 tourism receipts, which were around $2.7 billion, according to figures. CBSL data shows that over two million tourists visited Sri Lanka in 2024, an increase of 38.1 percent over 2023.
The Sri Lankan government has set a target of attracting 3 million tourists and generating $5 billion in tourism revenue by 2025.
