Pregnant Woman Rescued By Helicopter

Jan 11, Kathmandu- A woman from Mahabai Rural Municipality-4 in the district has been rescued by helicopter.

After suffering from prolonged labor pains but unable to deliver the baby, she was rescued by helicopter and taken to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet.

Lalsobha Singh (Thapa), 23, the wife of Tularaj Thapa of Ward-4, was in labor and was rescued after encountering additional problems on the way to the basic health post Oda Foundation.

After the Oda Foundation informed the District Administration Office about the patient's condition in writing, the pregnant Thapa was rescued on time, even though a helicopter was arranged through the Women's Upliftment Coordination Unit. Kalikot Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that due to the geographical location, there was no roadway to take her to the district hospital, so the rescue had to be done via helicopter.

Chief District Officer Bhattarai informed that after receiving written information from the basic health post and ward office that the woman's condition was serious, a letter was sent to the Presidential Women's Rescue Coordination Unit of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, and she was immediately rescued by helicopter.

Ujwal Bahadur Shahi, computer operator at the District Administration Office, Kalikot, said that the district administration will proceed with the process within 15 minutes as soon as the concerned agency provides information, thus facilitating the rescue of seriously ill patients, pregnant women and postpartum women.
