Electricity Generated In Jumla

Jan 12, Kathmandu- The village of Jumla, which has been facing a shortage of electricity, has been illuminated after one megawatt of electricity was generated for the first time. The electricity shortage has been alleviated after the construction of the project run by Chukeni Hydropower Cooperative Society Limited of Patarasi Rural Municipality was completed and put into operation.

Load shedding used to occur for up to 18 hours a day in the Khalanga Bazaar of Jumla. Load shedding was increasing due to frequent problems with the machines of the Nepal Electricity Authority's power house in Ghughuti, Jumla, and the decreasing water flow in the Jugad River.

But now that the Chukeni Hydropower Project is generating electricity, the impact of load shedding has been eliminated. Even though the Electricity Authority has extended the central transmission line to Jumla, the electricity consumption has not been able to meet the demand due to the problem of low voltage.
