Jan 13, Kathmandu- The ongoing custody hearing of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane at the Kathmandu District Court has not concluded even today. After the hearing was not concluded, his case has been kept under review and he has been returned to police custody.
Two people from Lamichhane's side and nine government lawyers argued in the bench of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari today.
Senior advocates Surendra Bhandari and Dinesh Tripathi argued on behalf of Lamichhane. Similarly, nine people including Advocate Khadindra Raj Katuwal, Chandra Sanjel, Santosh Raj Katuwal, Radhika Suwal, and Bina Khadka argued on behalf of the government prosecutor, but the case was kept under review as not all of them could be heard.
Rabi is facing a case of embezzlement of funds from Swarnalakshmi Cooperative.
He was released on bail after a custodial interrogation on charges of fraud at the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara. A case was registered at the Kathmandu District Court on Paush 21 against 39 people, including Lamichhane, in the savings embezzlement case of the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative Society.
Lamichhane is also accused of defrauding the Supreme Cooperative in Rupandehi, the Sahara in Chitwan, and the Sano Paila Cooperative in Parsa. Cases in those districts are also under prosecution.
