Jan 16, Kathmandu- The shooting of the Nepali film 'Hiu ko Geet' has been completed in the United States. The film was shot in a studio equipped with facilities similar to those used for shooting Hollywood films in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The film has also been shot in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and its director Bimal Subedi has informed that the entire shooting has been completed.
The film stars actress Barsha Raut and actor and director of the film Sanghuro, Joyce Pandey, in the lead roles. Director Subedi also informed that the editing process has started after the shooting is completed. Subedi is preparing the film in collaboration with Joyce Pandey.
According to director Subedi, the film will tell the stories of Nepali-speaking Bhutanese and Nepali immigrants. The film will portray the dreams, aspirations, and struggles of different generations born and raised in Bhutan, Nepal, and America.
"The film will tell the story of the entire Nepali-speaking Bhutanese through members from one family but with different generations, backgrounds, and experiences. The film will present the structural and psychological effects seen on different members of the family, from the brutal torture planned by the government before being expelled from their own country, to the refugee camps in Nepal after being expelled, and after coming to America," said its producer Samundra Raj Ghimire.
Subedi had staged 'Hiu ko Geet' as a play in India 12 years ago. He had staged the same play as a play in America last year under the name 'Hitler Aaudai chha'. Subedi has also said that the same play has now been made into a film as 'Hiu ko Geet'.
"This film will also be the first visual historical document of Nepali-speaking Bhutanese," said director Subedi. "This film has been prepared based on the experiences of reading, listening, and meeting hundreds of people from Nepal's refugee camps to the production of plays, which I have read and heard since childhood, and at various stages of story writing." Subedi also said that it tells the story of not only Bhutanese Nepalese but also immigrants from around the world who came to America.
This film is shot in two languages, Nepali and English. The English version of this film, which has a different narrative structure, is named 'Hiu Ko Geet'.
The film is executive produced by Jia Kuinkel Khatiwada, Karun Kuinkel, and Kaushila Khanal Karmacharya. Manorath Khanal, Rakesh Bhattarai, Ramesh Luintel, and Punya Kuinkel are co-producers. The film is produced by Joyash Pandey, Bimal Subedi, and Samundra Raj Ghimire under the banner of Happy Home Studios.
Along with Barsha Raut, this film also stars Joyash Pandey, Pooja Chand, Akash Khatiwada, Ishir Karmacharya, Thomas Keith Scott, Kedar Upreti, R. B. Khadka, Arjun Rasaili, Sameer Regmi, Manorath Khanal, Neelam Khanal, Ishan Karmacharya, Crystal Parajuli, Angelina Parajuli, Joshan Ramdam, Nirmal Khanal, Bishnu Ramdam, Michelle Scott, Ayush Bhattarai, Naveen Khanal, Joshika Ramdam, etc.
The film features filmmakers from Nepal, Bhutan, Taiwan, China, and Mexico. Cinematography is by Chinin Gaule, editing by Nishan Ghimire. Dance direction will be by Shankar BC and Kaushila Khanal Karmacharya.
