Jan 16, Kathmandu- Police have arrested two people on charges of character assassination through misuse of social media.

The arrested are Shree Krishna Karki, 19, a resident of Dhule Besighar, Khanda Devi Rural Municipality-8, Ramechhap, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13, and Saroj Katuwal, 31, a resident of Shadananda Municipality-5, Bhojpur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6, Bouddha Naya Basti. 

Police deployed from the Cyber ​​Bureau arrested Shree Krishna on Sunday and Saroj on Monday on charges of character assassination by sending photos and videos taken during their love affair to the victim's relatives and friends on Facebook Messenger after the relationship broke down.

The police have stated that they are conducting necessary investigations after obtaining permission from the Kathmandu District Court to extend their remand for offences under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
