Jan 19, Kathmandu- Police have arrested the person who assaulted former Chief Minister of Koshi Province Uddhav Thapa.
Police have arrested three people on charges of assaulting Thapa, who is also the leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party. The arrested are Bhakta Bahadur Katuwal, 49, of Shivasatakshi Municipality 11, and Prithvi Shrestha, 42, of Kankai Municipality 3.
Police said one of them was a driver from the Nepal Electricity Authority. Thapa was assaulted on Saturday evening at Jamunbari Chowk in Kankai, Jhapa. Police said he did not give way to a VIP vehicle and was assaulted after recognizing it as a VIP.
Thapa was injured in the scuffle. His eye is swollen. Jhapa police have stated that Thapa has returned home after receiving general treatment at Birta City Hospital.
