Jan 20, Kathmandu- A video of police brutally beating a young man on the bypass road section of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan is currently going viral on social media. The police deployed for checking have allegedly knocked the young man down and kicked him, saying that he was 'showing power from above'.

The video shows the police checking motorcycles on the bypass road section at night. At that moment, the police are seen beating a young man, asking him, "Are you going to make a phone call?’ and Are you going to show me the power above?" The young man tries to run away to avoid the police. But the police chase him and kick him continuously to the ground near an electric pole. Even after the young man falls, the police are seen abusing him and kicking him continuously.

SP Gautam Mishra of the District Police Office, Chitwan informed that a three-member investigation committee has been formed under the leadership of DSP Gyan Kumar Mahato to investigate the incident. He said that the location where the incident took place is being verified and information about the incident will be provided after verification. He said that necessary investigation will be done into the incident and action will be taken against those who committed the mistake as per the rules. Central Police Spokesperson Dinesh Acharya, however, claimed that this video is old.
