Jan 20, Kathmandu- Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba had a telephone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Ati today.

She has called on Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Ati to take the initiative for the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who is being held by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Foreign Minister Dr. Rana has urged the Egyptian government, through Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Ati, to take the initiative for the release of Bipin in the first phase. Following the peace talks and ceasefire between the Israeli government and Hamas, Hamas has begun the process of releasing prisoners under its control from Sunday.

During the phone call, Minister Dr. Rana thanked the Egyptian government for its role in brokering a ceasefire between the Israeli government and Hamas. Similarly, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdel Ati said that he would give special instructions to the Egyptian mediator for Bipin's release.
