Jan 21, Kathmandu- The Chinese Embassy in Nepal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has launched the first smart classroom in Gandaki Province. This has been taken as a major step to advance digital education and promote talent development in Nepal.
The classroom equipped with Huawei’s cutting-edge educational technology was officially inaugurated on Magh 20 at Buddhadaya Secondary School in Kwhlosothar Rural Municipality, Lamjung.
As a key partner in this project, Huawei has provided cutting-edge learning solutions, including Huawei Idea Hub (interactive whiteboard), laptops, desktops, Wi-Fi, infrastructure and a comprehensive online learning platform. This initiative helps bridge the digital divide, ensuring that students in remote areas have access to high-quality educational content and can compete globally.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung. Minister Gurung said, “This initiative marks an important step towards bridging the digital divide and increasing educational opportunities in rural Nepal. I commend the collaboration between the Chinese Embassy, Huawei Nepal and the Ministry of Communications to bring advanced technology to Buddhodaya Secondary School, which will equip students with the skills they need to succeed in the digital age. We are committed to ensuring that technology plays a major role in shaping Nepal’s future, and this smart classroom is an important milestone in that journey”.
