Jan 24, Kathmandu- Indonesia's free meal distribution program has reached 650,000 school children in 31 provinces, President Prabowo Subianto said.
"From January to April 2025, the program aims to target three million children. From April to August 2025, it will reach six million children. All Indonesian children will have access to nutritious food," Prabowo said on Wednesday.
"This is a strategic issue. We are strengthening the future of Indonesia. Indonesian children must be strong, intelligent, enthusiastic and able to attend school effectively. I believe that shortly we will see an improvement in the academic performance of our children," he added.
The program, which began on January 6, is expected to expand its scope to include not only students but also pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children under the age of five.
