Jan 26, Kathmandu- The heated debate on the case of Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane, who was involved in the cooperative fraud case, has come to an end.
The closed-door hearing in the case against Lamichhane, which began at the Rupandehi District Court on Thursday, ended on Sunday afternoon. It is likely that an order will be issued in the case soon.
While some lawyers on Lamichhane's behalf were still arguing, the argument began on Sunday by having him appear in court.
Senior advocates Raman Shrestha, Pashupati Bhandari, Sushil Pant and Narayan Kandel, among others, have argued on behalf of Lamichhane. The order is likely to be issued after the government lawyer presents his rebuttal arguments.
Lamichhane appeared in the Rupendehi court for the first time on Wednesday. Since then, Lamichhane has been released on bail.
The bench of Rupandehi District Court Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi has been releasing him to the custody of his wife Nikita Poudel and a legal practitioner on the condition that he be present.
861.823 million rupees have been embezzled from 1,831 savers in Supreme Cooperative. A case was filed against 28 people in this case. Although the case was first filed on April 3, a supplementary complaint has been filed against Lamichhane.
The police have concluded that more than Rs 142.9 million was transferred from Supreme Cooperative to Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. He was brought under investigation after it was found that a loan of Rs 20 million was transferred from the cooperative to Rabi.
