Jan 26, Kathmandu- At least 29 people were injured when three buses collided head-on in Sri Lanka's southern province of Galle on Sunday morning, police said. All the injured have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 8:30 am when a privately owned passenger bus collided with a truck.
According to initial police reports, one bus collided with another bus that was stopped, and several passengers were injured when the crashed bus and a third bus collided.
Police have reported that 12,140 people lost their lives in road accidents between 2020 and 2024.
Sri Lankan authorities are stepping up legal action against people who violate traffic rules on passenger buses.
The Sri Lankan government has approved the recruitment of 10,000 additional police officers to prevent road accidents and conduct anti-crime and anti-drug campaigns.
