Chairman Prachanda Leaves For Tehrathum

Jan 27, Kathmandu- Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) has left for the eastern hilly district of Tehrathum.

On Monday morning, Prachanda, accompanied by Maoist Center Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun, left for Tehrathum from Kathmandu in a military helicopter. Prachanda is scheduled to participate in programs organized at various places in Tehrathum today and tomorrow.

Prachanda is scheduled to inaugurate the Shaheed Dhanrupa Park in Lasune, Laliguras Municipality-7 today.

From there, he will travel to Aathrai, the birthplace of UML Chairman KP Oli, who is also the Prime Minister. Prachanda is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of the Hwaku Bagale Martyrs' Memorial Park in Aathrai Rural Municipality-3 and the People's War and Peace Museum building at the same location.

On this day, Magh 24, 2058 BS, 18 Maoist army fighters and 3 civilians were killed in a mass shooting by security personnel at that location.

The army had surrounded and opened fire on a place where unarmed fighters who were injured during the attack on the Gopetar police post in Panchthar were receiving treatment.

Prachanda will also visit the tourist area of ​​Jhankri Cave Park in Aathrai-2 today.

He will stay at Chuhandanda Bazaar in Aathrai-6 tonight. Prachanda is scheduled to meet party workers, locals and the family of late Maoist leader Bhaktaraj Kandangwa in Aathrai-6 on Tuesday morning.

After that, he will unveil the statue of Kandangwa. In the afternoon, he will return to Kathmandu after providing political training to the party's Tehrathum district-level workers at the assembly hall of Tehrathum Multiple Campus, informed Raghu Gautam, leader of the Maoist Center Tehrathum.

Prachanda had taken up the appointment of a teacher at the then Sharda Secondary School in Chuhandanda, Tehrathum, towards the end of the Panchayat period. He reached the district headquarters, Myaglung, with the appointment letter, but returned after learning that the school was very far away and in a remote location.
