Municipality's 'Teacher Diary' To Improve Educational Quality

Jan 30, Kathmandu- To enhance the quality of education, ‘Teacher Diary’ has been implemented in community schools in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality.

The Teacher Diary has been implemented with the aim of helping teachers prepare their daily, quarterly and annual plans and records of their work. Various facts and formats related to daily work required by teachers have been mentioned in the Teacher Diary.

Ganesh Paudel, the head of the municipality's education department, said that the teacher diary has been made mandatory in schools to make teaching effective and for the professional development of teachers. "The teacher diary plays an important role in making an educational plan for the subjects to be taught throughout the year and effectively completing it within the specified time limit," he said, "By using the teacher diary regularly, the teacher develops the habit of searching for every educational information. By taking into account child psychology, planning can be prepared, educational materials can be prepared, and appropriate selection and use of various teaching methods can be made, and the work of teaching can be completed in a simple manner."

Moti Nath, principal of Shiva Shankar Secondary School, Bhageshwor-5, Rupaligad, said that the diary contains important information that a teacher who is dedicated to his profession should follow. He said, "This will definitely increase the capacity of teachers. Students' passion for learning can be increased. Since teachers will be evaluated, teachers will now work hard to make their teaching quality."

He said, "If the teacher does not present the lesson plan, teaching and learning cannot be done according to the essence of the curriculum. These things are indicated in the diary. It has helped us to be honest in fulfilling our duties." Basanti Bhatta, Principal of Bhubaneswori Primary School, Dungri, Dadeldhura, said that the things mentioned in the diary are important. He said. We have moved forward to achieve educational quality by implementing the teacher diary in the school.

Municipality Chairman Hemraj Chataut said that the teacher diary includes content related to all educational sectors of the municipality. According to him, the diary includes the administrative and political division of the municipality, statistical details of all community schools within the municipality, annual academic calendar, education-related websites, curriculum-related information, national objectives of school education, curriculum structure, and evaluation process. Similarly, arrangements have been made to keep the personal details of students in the diary.

Arrangements have been made to keep the student's name, date of birth, parents' names, guardians' names, addresses and contact phone numbers. Arrangements have been made in the diary to keep details of the days of schooling, student attendance details and students participating in extracurricular activities. The diary provides space for the teacher's timetable and educational plans. The diary also keeps records of unit examinations held in the school, quarterly, half-yearly and continuous evaluation records and continuous evaluation forms. There are 32 community schools in Bhageswar Rural Municipality.
