Jan 30, Kathmandu- Seven opposition political parties have decided not to accept the ordinance brought by the government.
This decision was made at a meeting of seven opposition parties held at Singha Durbar this morning. In the same meeting, the RSP's proposal to unite in defense of its president Rabi Lamichhane was not able to reach an agreement. The RSP had proposed that the opposition should be unanimous on this issue as it was seen that the government was taking revenge on Lamichhane in the cooperative fraud case and the opposition was opposed to the suspension of the MP post. After the RSP's proposal was not agreed upon, the discussion among the parties focused on the ordinance. On the question of opposing the ordinance, all the opposition parties came to stand in one place.
The government is preparing to present the ordinance in Parliament on the first day of the winter session (Magh 18). Top leaders of the major parties are preparing to address Parliament on the same day.
