RSP MPs Disrupts House Of Representatives

Jan 31, Kathmandu- The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has protested against the start of the parliamentary session.

As soon as the meeting began, the RSP MPs stood up and protested.

The winter session of the Federal Parliament has begun today. Both houses of the Federal Parliament (House of Representatives and National Assembly) have begun at the same time today.

In the House of Representatives meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire is reading out the contents of the letter received from the President convening the session, specifying the Prime Minister's responsibilities, and receiving additional responsibilities from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Immediately after, Speaker Ghimire will nominate a member to chair the meeting in accordance with Rule 10 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079 BS. The meeting has an agenda for members to present their views on a party-based basis.

Six different ordinances are being presented in the meeting. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will present the 'Ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts relating to the promotion of good governance and public service delivery, 2081'. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is scheduled to present the 'Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081', 'Privatization (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2081' and 'Ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts relating to economic and business environment improvement and investment promotion, 2081'.

Similarly, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, will present the 'Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Cooperatives, 2081' and the 'Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Land, 2081'. The possible agenda includes the Speaker presenting various condolence motions in the meeting.

Similarly, apart from the agenda mentioned in the meeting of the National Assembly, there is an agenda to present the committee report on the Media Council Bill, 2080 and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Bill, 2081. The ruling party is preparing to pass six ordinances recently introduced by the government, while the opposition is demanding that the ordinances introduced maliciously be stopped.
