Feb 01, Kathmandu- Three Nepali workers have been confirmed dead in a road accident near the Aramco refinery road in Jizan, western Saudi Arabia. Fifteen people died in a road accident on Magh 4.
According to the Nepali Consulate General in Jeddah, the Nepali workers who died were identified as Krishna Khatri from Palpa, Rupak Karki from Udayapur, and Man Bahadur Rana from Kapilvastu. In addition to the three Nepalese, nine Indians and three Ghanaians were among those who died in the accident.
The accident occurred when a van collided with a trailer carrying 26 workers. According to Saudi Red Crescent spokesman Ahmed Asiri, 11 of the seriously injured are being treated at Jizan and Abha hospitals. Among the injured, Suk Bahadur Limbu from Ilam is in critical condition and is being treated at Bais Hospital in Jizan. The workers at the Aramco project in Jizan through the Arabian Consolidated Industrial Cleaning Services Corporation (ACIC).
Saudi authorities have launched an investigation into driver negligence, vehicle safety standards and road conditions, according to Saudi media. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Saudi Arabia has the highest number of road fatalities in the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia has been saying that it has improved and implemented road safety standards to reduce road accidents.
