Feb 02, Kathmandu- The stock market witnessed its highest trading volume in five months on the first day of the week. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the daily trading volume has reached Rs 12.95 billion. Of this, 24.848 million shares were bought and sold through 1,30,913 transactions.
This is the largest transaction since Bhadra 19. The last time Nepse traded Rs 13.04 billion was on Bhadra 18. Similarly, the Nepse index increased by 69.80 points to close at 2,727.58 points on Sunday.
This is the first time in the last five weeks that the Nepse index has crossed 2,700 points. Earlier, on Mangsir 26, the market had closed at 2,715.71 points. On Sunday, the share prices of 202 companies increased, while those of 37 companies decreased and the prices of three companies remained stable.
NRN Infrastructure and Development emerged as the company with the highest turnover with a turnover of Rs 419.70 crore. Saptakoshi Development Bank Limited (Rs 352.69 crore) and Sindhu Bikas Bank Limited (Rs 306.13 crore) were in second and third place respectively.
All business groups posted profits. The microfinance sub-index recorded the highest growth with a growth of 4.92 percent. This was followed by non-life insurance (2.71 percent) and development banks (3.38 percent) sub-indexes in second and third place respectively.
