Feb 03, Kathmandu- Police have arrested a man on charges of forcing his wife to commit suicide. The arrested person has been identified as 28-year-old Rajesh Saud of Thalara Rural Municipality-4.
The body of his wife, 27-year-old Dharma Saud, was found in the Seti River on Friday morning. Rajesh was arrested based on a complaint from the deceased Dharma's relatives and further investigation into the incident is underway, said Acting Chief Police Inspector Lokendra Thagunna of the District Police Office.
Thagunna said that his wife left the house at 3 pm on Friday and jumped from the bridge of the Seti River, which is about two hours below, according to her husband Rajesh Saud. "Dharma has stated that some people, including him, were following her and that her wife jumped while watching," Thagunna said. "The incident seems suspicious due to the statement of the accused, the time of the incident, etc. It will be further clarified whether it was murder or suicide after the post-mortem report comes".
Thagunna informed that he is currently being investigated for a case of abetment to suicide, based on the fact that he had repeatedly beaten and tortured him before.
