Protests In Kathmandu Over Pathibhara Cable Car Construction Dispute Continues

As the protests against the cable car under construction have been going on for a week, the life of the far eastern hilly districts has been affected, and now the protests have also started in Kathmandu. Mukkumlung Tadsep Chumbho and Mukkumlung Conservation Inter-Party Struggle Committee today demonstrated at Maitighar against Mukkumalung encroachment. The protest demanded the resignation of the Home Minister.

On Magh 12, there was a clash between police and protesters at Baludanda in Pathibhara area. Shots were fired during the clash. Some are seriously injured and are undergoing treatment. The ensuing dispute has led to a traffic jam in nine districts of Koshi - Taplejung, Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha and Tehrathum.

To resolve the dispute, the Ministry of Home Affairs formed a negotiation committee on Sunday, including representatives from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the Ministry of Urban Development. However, negotiations have not yet taken place.
