Feb 03, Kathmandu- A mobile phone worth more than 30 million rupees has been stolen from a shop in Urlabari, Morang. It has been found that all the mobile phones in the shop were stolen by breaking the lock on the shutter.
It was discovered that the mobile phones had been stolen after opening the shop on Monday morning. Police have said that the theft took place at a shop called 'Mobile World' run by Yograj Karki in Urlabari Municipality-5.
Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Ved Prakash Joshi informed that a theft took place at a mobile shop on Monday morning. He said that efforts are being made to identify those involved in the theft.
Considering the nature of the robbery, it is believed that a large group was involved, Joshi said. The shop had expensive mobile sets and the damage was extensive.
The shop owner has informed the police that mobile phones worth over Rs 30 million have been stolen. He said that more than 450 mobile phones of various brands including iPhone, Redmi, Oppo were kept in the shop.
According to DSP Joshi, it has been found that a single mobile phone is worth up to Rs 200,000. He said that the shop owner has informed that more than 450 mobile phones worth over Rs 30 million were kept in the shop and all of them were stolen.
A CCTV camera has been installed in the shop. However, the police are reportedly having difficulty identifying those involved in the theft from the CCTV footage.
A joint team led by DSP Mohan Bikram Dahal from the Area Police Office, Pathari, and Sub-Inspector Chudamani Poudel from the Area Police Office, Urlabari, has been mobilized to search for and identify those involved in the theft.
