Feb 04, Kathmandu- The British royal couple, who are on a visit to Nepal, are scheduled to meet the President today. They are scheduled to meet President Ram Chandra Paudel on Tuesday evening, a high-ranking security source has informed. British Prince Edward will arrive in Nepal via India at 10:30 am and his wife Sophia at around 2 pm, a high-ranking security source has informed. After arriving in Nepal, both will go to the British Embassy in Lainchaur.
As per the schedule, both will leave Sheetal Niwas at 4:15 pm. They will meet President Ram Chandra Paudel there and return to Lainchaur, a high-ranking security source has informed. The British prince and princess, who are on a six-day visit to Nepal, will return home on Magh 27 evening.
During the visit, they will also visit the British Gurkha Camp in Pokhara. According to British media, they will also participate in the badge distribution parade of those recently selected in the British Army. On this day, newly recruited Nepali soldiers in the British Army are formally marked as having joined the British Army. During the visit, they are also scheduled to visit the Annapurna mountain range in a Nepali Army helicopter, according to home sources.
During their stay in Nepal, they will also visit organisations providing healthcare and support to survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence. Sophie is a champion of the UN’s Women, Peace and Security agenda and in October, during a trip to Malta, she participated in discussions with members of the Maltese Police Force and the Human Rights Directorate on supporting victims of human trafficking.
"This visit will celebrate the close relationship between the UK and Nepal, and strengthen shared interests including youth opportunities, healthcare, equality for women and girls, and conservation and biodiversity," the media there quoted Buckingham Palace as saying about the visit, including to Nepal.
