Order To Release Rabi On Bail Of Rs. 5.4 Million

Feb 06, Kathmandu- The Chitwan District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane on a bail of Rs 5.4 million in the Sahara Cooperative Society embezzlement case.

On Thursday, the bench of District Court Chitwan Judge Dayaram Dhakal ordered Ravi to be released on bail of the said amount. Rabi, who was sent to custody after the detention hearing was not completed on Wednesday, will be released on Thursday if he posts bail.

A case was filed on Tuesday against 32 people, including Lamichhane, on charges of defrauding Sahara Cooperative of Rs 389 million.

Lamichhane appeared in court on Wednesday after a fraud case was registered in the cooperative's savings embezzlement case. The government attorney's office filed a case against Ravi and his partners in the district court on Tuesday.

Lamichhane's statement was heard in the courtroom before Judge Dayaram Dhakal as soon as he appeared in court. The order came after the closed arguments held on Thursday after the statement was completed on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor's Office registered a case against 32 people, including Chairman Lamichhane, for embezzling savings from the Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative.

Of these, 12 have been charged with organized crime and fraud. The others were charged with fraud only.
