Popular Karkha Singer Lal Bahadur Gandharva Has Passed Away

Feb 07, Kathmandu- Popular Karkha singer Lal Bahadur Gandharva has passed away. A resident of Ghyampeshal, Bhimsenthapa Rural Municipality-1, Gorkha, he passed away on Thursday at the age of 80.

He passed away at his residence in Ghyampeshal after suffering from cancer. He had been playing the sarangi since the age of nine, and continued to play the sarangi until the last moment of his life.

He became an employee at Radio Nepal in 2022. At the young age of 20, he went to the land reform workshop and was chosen by the then King Mahendra. In 2022, he recorded the song 'Kharbari Ko Chheu' and served as an employee at Radio Nepal until 2027.

He sang about the great earthquake of 1990, the biography of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the rise to power of Jung Bahadur, the world war, and Danfe Chari, among other topics, on Radio Nepal.
