Former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal Defeated

Feb 08, Kathmandu- Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been defeated in the Delhi Assembly elections in India. He was defeated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Pravesh Verma.

After defeating former Chief Minister Kejriwal in the elections, the victorious Verma informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the phone. Shah has called him for an immediate meeting, Indian media reported.

The news also suggests that Varma, who defeated Kejriwal by the BJP, may be given an important role in the new government.

BJP's Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva, however, has responded that the next Chief Minister for Delhi will be a BJP leader and the central leadership will select the person.
