Feb 11, Kathmandu- An interesting competition is underway between the top-placed Napoli and Inter Milan in Italian Serie A football.
The gap between the two teams is now only one point. Second-placed Inter closed the gap with Napoli by registering a thrilling 2-1 win over FC Fiorentina on Tuesday morning.
Marko Arnautovic scored a goal to give the home team Inter a win at San Siro, a goal received as a suicide gift. Rolando Mandragora pulled one back for Fiorentina.
Inter took the lead in the 28th minute of the game when Marin Pongracic scored an own goal. With one minute remaining in the first half, Mandragora scored a penalty and brought Fiorentina to a draw.
Arnautovic scored in the 52nd minute to give Inter a 2-1 lead. After that, no further goals were scored, and Inter took the three points.
With the win, second-placed Inter, the defending champions, have 54 points from 24 games. Top-placed Napoli have 55 points from the same number of games.
Third-placed Atalanta have 50 and fourth-placed Lazio have 45 points.
Serie A's most successful team, Juventus, are fifth in the league. They have gained 43 points. Defeated Fiorentina are sixth with 42 points from the same number of games.
So far, Inter has won 20 Serie A titles. Only three titles have been won in the name of top ranked Napoli.
Fiorentina are also two-time title winners.
