Feb 11, Kathmandu- A young woman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding people by promising to send them to Japan on a worker visa. Tirsana Batha Magar, 23, of Baijnath Rural Municipality-5, has been arrested on charges of extorting money from many people on the pretext of taking them to Japan on a worker visa for foreign employment.
According to the Area Police Office, Kohalpur, Magar was arrested on charges of defrauding people of Rs. 1.4-1.5 million per person. Ayush Prasad Joshi, Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Banke, said that Magar had collected Rs. 12.3 million, saying that he would send it to Japan.
According to DSP Joshi, she had been absconding for 2-3 months after collecting the amount. The victims had filed a complaint against her with the Department of Foreign Employment. An arrest warrant was immediately issued against Magar.
He was arrested on Sunday by a team deployed from the Area Police Office, Kohalpur. The Area Police Office, Kohalpur, has stated that further investigation has been initiated against Magar.
