Feb 11, Kathmandu- Journalist Dirgharaj Upadhyay's poetry collection 'Aama Ma Aadaichhu' was released in Dhangadhi today.
At the launch ceremony held in Dhangadhi on Tuesday, writer Dr. Nawaraj Lamsal, former registrar of Sudurpaschim University Dr. Hemraj Pant, Sudurpaschim Province Assembly member Dharmaraj Pathak, writer Shrestha Priya Patthar, and Aishwarya Prakashan chairman Ganesh Joshi jointly released the poetry collection.
Chief guest writer Lamsal said that the poetry collection contains the anger and pain seen by poet Upadhyay during the Corona pandemic and conflict. He said that the poetry collection can be a rallying cry for economic development and change.
Lamsal said that Upadhyaya was a person who was able to observe the country and the world even after growing up in Dhangadhi. Poet Lamsal said that the people of Dhangadhi should be proud that Upadhyaya, who started journalism from a humble background in Dhangadhi, has refined himself and made a greater identity.
Active in the field of journalism for two and a half decades, Upadhyaya said that he has expressed in poetry the touching themes that could not be written and covered in the news.
Upadhyaya's poems are full of love for the country. He has sharply attacked the vices and anomalies of society, said Madan Award winner Lamsal, poet Upadhyaya has not only written thoughts in his poems. He has written the heart. And, he has written the consciousness and awareness of society.
Similarly, Dr. Pant, former registrar of Sudurpaschim Campus, said that Upadhyaya, who has always written on the issues of development and prosperity of the Far West through journalism, has done commendable humanitarian work to save the lives of citizens during Covid.
Prof. Dr. Pant said that Upadhyay's poetry is a sharp attack on love, harmony and the evils in society.
Commenting on the book, Sitaram Bhatta, Associate Professor at Kailali Multiple Campus, said that Upadhyay's poetry encompasses the pain experienced by citizens during COVID, the inaction of the state, and the inconsistencies of politics along with love.
He discussed that Upadhyay, who has been active in journalism for two and a half decades, has made a great contribution to the Far West through journalism, literature and social work.
He said that Upadhyaya's work will be recorded as a valuable asset in Nepali literature. Critic Bhatt said that Upadhyaya has depicted the events taking place in this society in poetry.
He said that a poet has depicted that anger through poetry as politicians are working for the interests of themselves and their families rather than for the society.
Journalist Upadhyaya had launched a book titled A Decade of Conflict Journalism in the market last Bhadra. This is Upadhyaya's fourth book. Earlier, he has published a collection of poems, a collection of ghazals and a book A Decade of Conflict Journalism.
Upadhyaya said that the emotions in the poem are inspired by the disasters experienced by the country, the suffering of the citizens, corrupt politics, time and environment.
He said that the poem also captures the pain experienced by the country and its citizens during the COVID pandemic and conflict.
Ganesh Prasad Joshi, Chairman of Aishwarya Prakashan Pvt. Ltd., expressed happiness at being able to publish a rare literary work written by Upadhyaya.
At the release ceremony held under the chairmanship of Joshi, senior writer Shrestha Priya Patthar and senior journalist Tikaram Yatri delivered congratulatory speeches. Writers, writers, politicians, journalists and others were present at the release ceremony.
