Teenage Girls From Five Municipalities In Chitwan Received HPV Vaccination

Feb 11, Kathmandu- The HPV vaccination campaign has been completed in five of the seven municipalities in the district. Apart from Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Ratnanagar Municipality, the vaccination program has been completed in five other municipalities under the campaign. 10,132 teenage girls from these municipalities have been vaccinated against HPV.

According to Ram KC, Vector Control Inspector of the Public Health Office, 2,728 girls from Khairhani Municipality, 2,907 from Rapti Municipality, 2,227 from Kalika Municipality, 1,043 from Madi Municipality and 1,227 from Ichchakamana Rural Municipality have been vaccinated. The campaign, which started on Magh 22, is currently ongoing in Ratnanagar and Bharatpur, he informed.

So far, 25,056 girls from all seven municipalities in the district have been vaccinated against HPV. According to the office, girls studying in grades 6 to 10 and girls aged 10 to 14 who are out of school have been vaccinated. According to KC, 11,684 girls from Bharatpur and 3,240 girls from Ratnanagar have been vaccinated. The campaign will run until Falgun 1 in Ratnanagar and Falgun 3 in Bharatpur.

The target is to provide HPV vaccination to 31,570 girls from 446 vaccination centers in the district. The girls aged 10 to 14 years have been vaccinated to prevent cervical cancer. 456 health workers and 912 volunteers have been mobilized at the vaccination centers in the district. This vaccine was tested in Chitwan and Kaski in Nepal in the fiscal year 2072/73.
