Feb 16, Kathmandu- Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Economy and Trade Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh paid a courtesy call on him in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Sunday.
The two leaders, who are in Muscat, Oman, to participate in the 8th Indian Ocean Conference, held a sideline meeting today.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates, various issues related to labor, tourism, economic development, and the cooperation needed to mitigate the impact of climate change.
Minister Dr. Deuba, on the occasion, expressed special gratitude to the United Arab Emirates government through Minister Sayegh for providing employment to Nepali human resources. On the occasion, Minister Sayegh praised the great contribution of Nepali human resources to the economic and social development of the UAE.
They also discussed the cooperation and investment that can be made between the two countries in the future in the fields of tourism, economic development, and trade partnerships.
Minister Dr. Deuba had urged Minister Sayegh to start direct flights from Dubai, UAE to Nepal's Pokhara International Airport. Minister Sayegh expressed his commitment to immediately initiate a technical study on this issue and move forward with a plan to start flights.
Also, during the meeting, Minister Dr. Deuba informed that Nepal is organizing the Sagarmatha Dialogue in Kathmandu next May as a global dialogue platform to discuss serious issues of regional and global importance, and also invited the UAE to participate in the dialogue, which will focus on the situation of climate change.
