Feb 16, Kathmandu- Two major digital wallets of Nepal, Kalti and IME Pay, are going to merge. A written agreement was signed between the two companies on Sunday.
After the wallet merger, which happened for the first time in Nepal, customers will get all the features of Kalti and IME Pay in one app.
An IME Pay official informed that after the merger, it has been decided to name the wallet ‘IME Khalti’. According to him, detailed information on this matter will be given soon.
The regulator Nepal Rastra Bank had amended the Payment and Settlement Regulations, 2077 BS, making provision for wallet mergers. The amended regulations mention the provision that institutions licensed to carry out payment-related activities can merge/merge or acquire each other.
It is said that once integrated transactions between Khalti and IME Pay begin, it will become the country's largest wallet in terms of customer base.
