Child Murdered In A Dispute Over Gold Theft

Feb 17, Kathmandu- An 11-year-old boy was murdered in Dailekh over a dispute over the sale of stolen gold. Police have arrested two teenagers, aged 14 and 17, from Dullu Municipality, involved in the murder.

Investigation revealed that they had murdered the boy on Magh 25 and buried him in a ditch on the bank of a river near his house, said Police Chief Sunil Dahal.

After the boy lost contact, his relatives filed a complaint at the local police office, Dullu. Initially, the police had investigated the friends who were with him before he went missing.

When the two boys were taken into custody on Saturday and interrogated, they told the police that they had a dispute when they were selling stolen gold ornaments (Tilhari) and that they had killed him on Magh 25 and buried him in a ditch near a river near their house.

Based on the same statement, the body was found buried in a ditch during a search, said Police Chief Dahal.

The District Police Office, Dailekh, has said that both the arrested teenagers have been kept in the police's juvenile detention center and further investigation is underway.
