Samba Returns Home To Play International Football

Feb 17, Kathmandu- Nepali national women's football team forward Sabitra Bhandari (Samba) returned home today.

Samba, who is playing professional football in France, has returned home to play in the four-nation international women's football tournament organized by Nepal. She was welcomed by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) spokesperson Suresh Shah and others at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Nepal will play Kyrgyzstan at 6 pm today.

Earlier, Rekha Poudel, who is playing in the UAE league, and Nepali team captain and goalkeeper Angela Tumbapo Subba, who is playing professional football in Greece, had returned to Nepal for the tournament. Along with Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar and Lebanon are participating in the tournament.

The matches of the tournament will be played on a round-robin basis, with the top two teams advancing to the final. Nepal will play Lebanon on February 21 and Myanmar on Falgun 8.

The Nepali team's 'goalkeepers' include captain Angela Tumbapo Subba, Anjana Rana Magar and Usha Nath. Similarly, the 'defenders' include Nisha Thokar, Samikshya Ghimire, Amrita Jaisi, Geeta Rana, Bimala BK, Pooja Rana, Bimala Chaudhary and Manmaya Damai. Similarly, the 'midfielders' include Anita Basnet, Renuka Nagarkote, Preeti Rai, Saru Limbu, Savita Rana Magar, Renuka Hamal and Sushma Tamang.

The forwards include Savitra Bhandari, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, Chandra Bhandari, Anita KC and Rekha Poudel.
