Case Against 3 People Arrested With 60 Kg Of Silver

Feb 21, Kathmandu- A case worth around Rs 10 million has been filed against three people who were arrested with 60 kg 80 grams of silver.

The cases filed against them are Karma Shah Sonar, 36, of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-5 in Bara, Karma's wife Indra Kumari Pariyar, 37, and Shankar Prasad Sonar, also known as Shankar Shah Sonar, 40, of Birgunj Metropolitan City-28. A case has been filed against them, demanding Rs 96 lakh 60 thousand 864 in damages.

A case was filed against them in the Patan High Court on Thursday on charges of committing an offense prohibited by Section 3 of the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Act, 2052, said department spokesperson Krishna Kumari Shrestha.

Police had arrested Karma from Amlekhgunj, Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-21, Bara, on 21 Mangesh with 60 kg 80 grams of silver.

He was arrested while on his way from Birgunj to Hetauda. According to the police, he was arrested when he was carrying silver by making a false bottom at the foot of the scooty.

The police had handed him over to the Revenue Investigation Department. The department said that after two more people were found involved during the investigation, they were also made defendants.
