39 Amendments To Nepal Police Bill

Feb 21, Kathmandu- 39 amendments have been registered in the bill to amend and consolidate the Nepal Police Act.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had registered the bill in the House of Representatives on Magh 15. A principled discussion was held in the House of Representatives on Falgun 5. After the discussion, the House passed a motion to consider it, and 39 amendment proposals were registered by the lawmakers during the 72 hours for amendments.

According to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, the bill has been submitted to Parliament to make the police organization more effective by extending it to provincial jurisdiction and provincial police as envisioned by the constitution, and to emulate the best practices adopted by other countries in the world regarding the police, thereby achieving peace and security in the country and achieving peace and order.

The provincial police has not been formed due to the lack of a police act. All seven provinces have been pressuring the federal government to pass the police act soon.
