More Than 5,500 USAID Employees Expelled

Feb 24, Kathmandu- In the US, the Trump administration has expelled most of the USAID staff.

The BBC reported that 4,200 employees of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have been expelled.

In addition, it is mentioned in the news that at least 1,600 employees have been laid off.

It is not yet clear how many of those employees will be brought back.

The Trump administration is trying to reduce the number of federal employees under Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, or Dodge, plan to reduce government spending.

USAID was founded in 1961. It had about 10,000 employees before the cost-cutting measures.
