Feb 24, Kathmandu- The number of active weekly users of ChatGPT has exceeded 400 million. Brad Lightcap, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at OpenAI, gave information about this new data in X.

"We feel very fortunate to be serving 5 percent of the world every week," he said. This number is double the number of weekly active users reported in August 2024, which was also double the number posted in November 2023.

This latest achievement comes after much discussion earlier this year about a new competing platform, DeepSiq, which raised questions about whether it would replace the current leading AI platform.

Open AI is also simplifying its ChatGPT offerings so that users no longer have to choose which logic model will respond to input.

The GPT 4.5 and GPT 5 models will be available in chat and API clients soon. By making GPT 5 available to Open AI users for free, ChatGPT looks set to expand its user base in the coming months.
